Photo Coverage: Hairspray Film Sing-Along Premiere

On August 3rd, New Line Cinema is releasing a nationwide special edition print of Hairspray with sing-along tracks for audience participation.  On August 1st, New York Hairspray fanswere given the first chance to sing along to the movie musical at AMC Loews Kips Bay Theatre.  Nikki Blonsky and Elijah Kelly appeared to introduce the film and sing along.

"This is your chance to belt out 'Good Morning Baltimore' or 'You Can't Stop the Beat' with all your friends!," state press materials on the special edition print. The lits of locations and theatres that are participating can be found at this link.

Featuring new and original material based on John Waters' 1988 cult classic about star-struck teenagers on a local Baltimore dance show, the comedy features a remarkable collection of talent including John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, Allison Janney, Brittany Snow, Zac Efron, Elijah Kelley, producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Chicago), and director Adam Shankman (Bringing Down The House). The new screenplay for Hairspray was written by Leslie Dixon (Freaky Friday, Outrageous Fortune). Hairspray is in theatres now," state press notes.
