Photo Coverage: HAMILTON Cast Celebrates 226th Anniversary of the Coast Guard

Commissioned by Alexander Hamilton in 1790, August 4th marked the anniversary of the founding of the US Coast Guard. To commemorate the occasion members of the Broadway musical Hamilton joined Capt. Matthew Meilstrup for a ride-in of the Cutter Eagle up the Hudson River.

The Cutter Eagle will also be open for free public tours at the Intrepid Pier for the following dates and times: Aug. 5, 1 - 7 p.m., Aug. 6, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Aug. 7, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

With book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, music direction/orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow's biography of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. The musical won eleven 2016 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Score, Book of a Musical, Direction of a Musical, Choreography and Orchestrations. Miranda received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Hamilton.
