On Wednesday, Jan 14th following the 8 pm performance of IN THE HEIGHTS - Ghostlight Records and ITH hosted a "Grammy Night" Talkback. 100 Grammy University students as well as the Grammy board came to see the show and talk with the Tony winning creative team. The IN THE HEIGHTS album is nominated this year in the Best Musical Show Album. Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda lead the talk along with Alex Lacaimore  and Bill Sherman, also Tony winners for their work on the show.

IN THE HEIGHTS opened to critical acclaim, going on to win four 2008 Tony Awards (Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography, Best Orchestrations), and garnering a 2008 Grammy Award nomination for the original cast album. In November, 2008, Universal Pictures acquired the rights to produce a feature film based on IN THE HEIGHTS.

The news of a 2009 GRAMMY Nomination for Best Musical Show Album, for their double-CD release of 'In The Heights' (already a Tony Award Winner for Best Musical and Best Score,) capped a dominant year for Ghostlight Records.

The GRAMMY University Network (GRAMMY U) is a unique and fast-growing community of college students who are pursuing a career in the music industry. The Recording Academy(R) created GRAMMY U to help prepare students for careers in the recording industry through networking, educational programs and performance opportunities. GRAMMY U is designed to enhance students' current academic curriculum with access to recording industry professionals to give an "out of classroom" perspective on the recording industry.

The label Ghostlight has emerged as the standard bearer on the Broadway music scene. Their recent releases of the OCRs for Tony winners In The Heights and Passing Strange, as well as their single release featuring the winner of MTV's Legally Blonde The Musical competition, have brought them acclaim for their innovative marketing techniques and their efforts to reach the next generation of Broadway music fans via iTunes, music videos and more. Coverage has ranged from Rolling Stone to USA TODAY to The New York Times, from Blender Magazine to Playbill to Billboard, from AP Radio to Entertainment Weekly, from New York Magazine to Variety to NY-1 TV, from Time Out NY to Paper Magazine to The Advocate and much more. Other current releases include the OCR for '13 - The New Broadway Musical,' and a double CD collector's edition of 'Reefer Madness.' Their release of 'Patti LuPone at Les Mouches' received expansive and wildly favorable media overage. Next month, they will release Sutton Foster's solo CD, 'Wish'.
