Euan Morton gave a free performance at Tower Records (66th Street &
Broadway) on Wednesday, May 24th at 6 PM as part of the weekly "Any
Wednesday at Tower" series. Morton offered selections from his
acclaimed debut CD, "NewClear" (available at the Tower location), as well as greeting fans and signing CDs after the performance.
Morton received Tony and Olivier Award nominations and a Theatre World Award for originating the role of Boy George in the musical Taboo, both on Broadway and in The West End. Recently, he received critical acclaim for appearing in the title role of Tony Kushner's adaptation of Brundibar at The New Victory Theatre, and won an Obie Award for his appearing in Measure For Pleasure at The Public Theater. His other New York credits include the title role of the musical Caligula for
the inaugural season of the acclaimed New York Musical Theatre Festival
(who which he received a NYMF Best Actor Award). He will soon be seen
in The Who's Tommy at the Bay
Street Theatre in Sag Harbor. Morton has appeared in concert in New
York City at Town Hall, The Zipper Theatre, Joe's Pub and Birdland, as
well as at The Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA.
This past
March, independent recording label Lyric Partners released Morton's
debut solo album, "NewClear." Co-produced by Morton along with David Nehls and Mae Robertson, NewClear contains 10 tracks consisting of both new songs and covers of some of Morton's favorite tunes.
