Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW presented two rarely seen one-act comedies by George Bernard Shaw- HOW HE LIED TO HER HUSBAND and THE FASCINATING FOUNDLING Starring John Cullum, Kate Mulgrew, Wesley Taylor and Josh Grisetti at The Players Club last night, November 22.
Gingold Theatrical Group -- which made history last December as the first company ever to present every play (including full-length works, one-acts and sketches) written by George Bernard Shaw -- continues its fifth year of PROJECT SHAW with two rarely performed short plays: HOW HE LIED TO HER HUSBAND, Shaw's light comedy about love, sex, deception and stolen letters, and THE FASCINATING FOUNDLING, a one-act about parenting, on Monday, November 22 at 7pm at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan. David Staller produces and directs.
In HOW HE LIED TO HER HUSBAND, Shaw visits one of London's most fashionable sitting rooms where deception, sex, stolen love letters and a boxing match can be found! It's Shaw poking fun at himself in a most light-hearted way. And, in THE FASCINATING FOUNDLING, Shaw takes
a silly look at parents, children -- and everyone in between. It's a comedic evening of questionable romance with two of Shaw's most rarely performed little plays.
The evening's ensemble included John Cullum, currently on Broadway in the John Kander and Fred Ebb musical THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS; Josh Grisetti, seen on Broadway in BROADWAY BOUND and recently Off-Broadway in Irish Repertory Theatre's CANDIDA; Kate Mulgrew, most recently seen on Broadway in EQUUS; and Wesley Taylor, presently on Broadway in THE ADDAMS FAMILY. Journalist Gordon Cox of Variety hosts the evening.
