Creative Alternatives of New York (225 West 99th Street), celebrating the use of theater to help New York's most vulnerable children and adults, honored Tony Award winner & Board Chairman, Dick Latessa, and Emily Nash, Artistic Director at this year's 25th Anniversary celebration, "Broadway at the Boathouse," which held at Loeb Central Park Boathouse (at East 72nd Street entrance) on May 4, 2009.
Creative Alternatives of New York (CANY) provides transformative theatre programs to New York City's most vulnerable children and adults, helping them to build new life skills and realize their potential through the art of drama. Working in partnership with leading social service organizations and health care institutions CANY provides about 1,400 theatre groups annually in residential centers, shelters, special schools, hospitals and community centers.

Festivities included cocktails, buffet dinner and silent auction, and gondola boat rides followed by a special musical presentation directed by David Brind with performances by Broadway veterans Norbert Leo Butz, Keith Carradine and Anita Gillette (all of whom appeared memorably with Latessa on Broadway). The benefit co-chairs for this year's event are Cady Huffman and Manny & Lani Azenberg with Honorary co-chairs Bill Pullman and Susan Sarandon.
