On July 16th, Tony Award-winners Jonathan Pryce (Miss Saigon, Comedians) and Norbert Leo Butz (Wicked, The Last Five Years) played their last performance as Broadway's Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. On July 20th, Keith Carradine (The Will Rogers Follies) and Brian D'Arcy James (The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Sweet Smell of Success) succeed them as suave master thief Lawrence Jameson and vulgar upstart Freddy Benson.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which follows the hijinx of two crooks on the French Riviera, won the 2005 Drama League Award as Best Musical, and was nominated for 11 Tony Awards. Butz won a Tony for his performance. The show features a book by Jeffrey Lane and music and lyrics by David Yazbek (The Full Monty). The production is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell. The musical is based on the 1988 MGM film.
