On Thursday, May 10th, BroadwayWorld.com hosted a VERY special screening of SHOWBUSINESS: THE ROAD TO BROADWAY, an AMAZING new documentary film that we proudly presented the night before it opens to the public. Following the screening filmmaker and Tony-winning producer Dori Berinstein was hand for a panel discussion featuring some very special surprise guests appearing in the film. The event took place at the Landmark Sunshine Theatre on East Houston Street.
As with all BroadwayWorld.com events, a portion of the evenings proceeds went to Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. "Direct from being named one of the Top 5 Documentary Films of 2006 by the International Documentary Association comes this landmark film tracing the historic Broadway season featuring Avenue Q, Taboo, Wicked and Caroline, or Change. From casting to staging, from previews to red carpet opening nights, from the announcement of Tony nominations to the suspense filled Tony Awards, ShowBusiness provides a never-before-seen look at the inner workings of Broadway musicals," state press materials.
