The 2nd Annual Broadway Cabaret Festival, the star-studded event that recently played Town Hall, concluded with "Broadway Originals" on Sunday, October 22nd.
More than twenty stars performed songs from roles that they originated on Broadway. Among the performers and shows were: Joanna Gleason and Chip Zien from Into the Woods, Liz Callaway, Catherine Cox and Beth Fowler from Baby, Cheyenne Jackson from All Shook Up, Christiane Noll from Jekyll & Hyde, Celeste Holm from Oklahoma!, Sheila Smith from Sugar, and Nancy Dussault from Do Re Mi. The event, as with the preceding two Broadway Cabaret Festival events "Music in the Air" and "Emily Skinner and Alice Ripley Sing Broadway," was presented by Town Hall and written and hosted by Scott Siegel.
Then, that evening at the Princeton Club, Tony Award-winning Broadway legend Barbara Cook (The Music Man, Candide, She Loves Me) was honored with the Town Hall 'Friend of the Arts' Award, which is presented annually to individuals in recognition and appreciation for their abiding interest in the development, enrichment and support of the arts. Among those who attended were Donna McKechnie and Harvey Evans.
