On Monday, November 13th at 7:30 pm, well-known Broadway performers and composers revealed their classical chops in "Broadway High Note: Theater Stars Go Classical" at the Minetta Lane Theater. Proceeds from the one-night-only performance went to benefit Greenwich House Music School's scholarships and music education outreach programs.
"An exciting roster of performers and composers will demonstrate their impressive musical talents when they hit the heights, singing songs from their classical repertoire," according to press materials. Among the performers were Christiane Noll, Max von Essen and cellist Peter Sachon. The evening also included an aria by Stephen Schwartz, the Tony Award-winning composer of Wicked, Godspell and Pippin. A highlight of the night was two instrumental performances by young students of the Greenwich House Music School. The evening featured musical direction by Cathy Venable and direction by Michael Schiralli. Jim Caruso served as producer, and Matt Berman was technical director.
