The stars of the upcoming revival of Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park gathered to pose for pictures on January 11th. The romantic comedy will open at the Cort Theatre on February 16th, 2006, after starting previews on January 24th.
Directed by Scott Elliott (The Women, Three Sisters), the first-ever revival of the show will star Amanda Peet (Neil LaBute's This is How It Goes, films such as A Lot Like Love and Melinda and Melinda) as Corie, a Greenwich Village bohemian, and Patrick Wilson (The Phantom of the Opera film, "Angels in America," The Full Monty) as Paul, a low-key lawyer. Newlyweds, the two must learn to adjust to lifestyle differences. Jill Clayburgh(A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, the films An Unmarried Woman and Starting Over) will play Corie's mother, while Tony Roberts (Victor/Victoria and Cabaret on Broadway, Annie Hall) will portray neighbor Victor Velasco. The show, directed by Mike Nichols, originally opened on Broadway in 1963 for a run of 1,530 performances; a film with original star Robert Redford and Jane Fonda followed. For more information, visit www.barefootintheparkbroadway.com.
