On March 19, 2007 at 8:00 PM at the Marquis Theatre (1565 Broadway), Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS presented The 12th Annual "Nothing Like a Dame," benefiting The Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative of The Actors' Fund of America.
The benefit featured, among others, Liz Callaway, Kate Clinton, Joyce DiDonato, Jill Eikenberry, Ana Gasteyer, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Milena Govich, Jennifer Holliday, Maureen McGovern, Lynn Redgrave, Tika Sumpter, young dancers of the Westchester Dance Academy, the women of In the Heights, and the women of Company.
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) is the nation's leading industry-based, not-for-profit AIDS fundraising and grant making organization. BC/EFA is the on-going, committed response from the American Theatre community to an urgent worldwide health crisis. By drawing upon the talents, resources, and generosity of this community, BC/EFA raises funds for AIDS-related causes across the United States. Since its founding in 1988, BC/EFA has raised over $130 million for critically needed services for people with AIDS, HIV or HIV-related illnesses.
The Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative dedicates a range of resources solely to addressing the health needs and concerns specific to women in the entertainment industry, providing direct services and financial assistance to many women who are often without health insurance.
