The Artists Showcase Series rencetly presented a reading of BINGO WITH THE INDIANS, a new black comedy by ADAM RAPP at Makor with a portion of the proceeds donated to the ELIZABETH GLASER PEDIATRIC AIDS FOUNDATION (http://www.pedaids.org).

Directed by CAROLYN CANTOR, the reading starred Anthony Rapp ("A Beautiful Mind," Rent), Carrie Preston ("The Stepford Wives", Chaucer in Rome), Betsy Aidem, John Gallagher Jr. (Kimberly Akimbo at MTC), Mandy Siegfried (Noises Off) and Adam Stein (The Iceman Commeth), among others.

Set in a tiny motel room in New Hampshire, BINGO WITH THE INDIANS is a pitch-black comedy about a small, frustrated theatre troupe from Manhattan who plans to rob a famous local Bingo game in rural New Hampshire so they can afford to produce their play in the East Village. 

Playwright ADAM RAPP has penned Finer Noble Gases, Blackbird, Gompers, Stone Cold Dead Serious (2002-2003 "Best Plays" yearbook), Trueblinka and Nocturne - many of which cast his brother, Anthony Rapp.

THE ARTISTS SHOWCASE SERIES was created by producer Geoffrey Soffer to present readings of plays and musicals, as well as concerts featuring stars of Broadway, cabaret, TV and film.  Proceeds from all events are donated to a charity chosen by the artists involved. Last year's Artists Showcase Series events included a reading of Suicide Weather, a new play by Tony Award winner Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q), starring Tony and Emmy Award winner Debra Monk; a reading of Easter Rising, a new musical by Michael Arden; an evening with Grammy Award-winning songwriter Julie Gold ("From A Distance"); a screening of "Broadway: The Golden Age" followed by a panel discussion with filmmaker Rick McKay, Anita Gillette, Don Pippin and Michael Mastro; and two standing-room-only Broadway Kitchen Sink concerts, featuring performers like Victoria Clark, Anthony Rapp, Shoshana Bean, Matthew Morrison, Julia Murney, Emily Loesser, and many others.
