New Dramatists presented their 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award to three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Edward Albee at the group's 58th Annual Benefit Luncheon, which was held at the Marriot Marquis Hotel on Thursday, May 17th.
Albee, who received a 2005 Lifetime Achievement Tony Award, has won Pulitzers for A Delicate Balance, Seascape and Three Tall Women. Other plays include the landmark Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Tiny Alice, The Zoo Story, The Play About the Baby, and The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?. Albee's The Lady from Dubuque, starring Dame Maggie Smith, is currently playing the West End, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? recently played a national tour starring Bill Irwin and Kathleen Turner, who were featured in the recent Broadway revival.
