On Tuesday, April 21, 2009, past Drama League honorees Bobby Cannavale, Cheyenne Jackson and Rosie Perez announced the nominations for the The 75th Annual Drama League Awards.
The nominations were announced live at Sardi's Restaurant (234 W. 44th St.) at 10:30 a.m.
For the second consecutive year, the nominations could also be viewed live on the internet, via an exclusive webcast hosted by BroadwayWorld.com and DramaLeague.org.
Each season, The Drama League's 3,000+ members bestow awards in five categories, for Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical and The Distinguished Performance Award. Bobby Cannavale, Cheyenne Jackson and Rosie Perez were each honored by The Drama League last season for their performances in Mauritius, Xanadu and The Ritz, respectively.
As previously announced, The 75th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon is set for Friday, May 15, 2009 in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square (1535 Broadway at 46th St.). Co-hosted by Jeremy Irons (past Drama League Award winner for The Real Thing) and Cynthia Nixon (currently starring in Off-Broadway's Distracted), the event begins at noon.

The Drama League was founded in 1916 as an association of theatre professionals and patrons dedicated to encouraging the finest in professional theatre and has since then developed into the theatre's premiere service organization.
