Photo Coverage: 24th Annual Artios Awards

At its yearly coast-to-coast gala honoring excellence in casting, the Casting Society of America announced  the New York award-winners at the 24th Artios Awards® held at Caroline's on Broadway on November 10, 2008. Broadway veteran and comedienne Julie Halston was Mistress of Ceremonies in New York, while Neil Patrick Harris hosted the event at at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.

Presented yearly for outstanding achievement in casting, the awards are given on the criteria of originality, creativity and the contribution of casting to the overall quality of a project.

"The Artios Awards featured great highlights from this year's most prestigious achievements in Motion Picture, Television, and Theater Casting," said Pam Dixon, President, Casting Society of America. "This year I was excited that Julie Halstonin New York and Neil Patrick Harris in Los Angeles hosted our events."

Each year, the Casting Society of America recognizes industry notables with a New York Apple Award, a Career Achievement Award, and bestows the Hoyt Bowers Award on one of its own.  This year, Thomas Schumacher was honored with the New York Apple Award at the New York ceremony.  In Los Angeles, the Career Achievement Award was presented to Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, and the Hoyt Bowers Award was presented to the late Mali Finn.

Celebrity guest presenters in New York included Bryan Batt, Jason Biggs, Robert Buckley, Danny Burstein, Bobby Cannavale, Jennifer Ehle, John Gallagher Jr., Gavin Lee, Norm Lewis, Rebecca Luker, Jesse L. Martin, Alan Menken, Lin-Manuel Miranda, James Naughton, Kristin Schall, Sherie Renee Scott, Paolo Szot and "As The World Turns" soap star Van Hansis.
