Bernadette Peters and Mandy Patinkin will appear together at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Union Square on June 9th at 7 PM to promote a children's book in which they are both involved.

Peters and Patinkin, who each garnered a Tony nomination when they co-starred in the original production of Sunday in the Park with George, also collaborated on the nine-song recording that accompanies the children's book, Dewey Doo-It Helps Owlie Fly Again by Brahm Wenger and Alan Green.

The book is loosely based on the late actor Christopher Reeve's fight against physical disability, and his widow Dana provides narration on the CD. Published by RandallFraser Publishing, and with illustrations by Jean Gillmore, the book tells a story in which "Dewey meets a little owl in a wheelchair who can no longer fly. Can the helpful Doo-its use ingenuity and creativity to help the little owl learn to fly again? Can they Doo-it?" The Dewey books, according to the series' website, "teach kids the value and importance of helping others. He nurtures in each child the qualities of selflessness, kindness and compassion." The retail price of the hardcover book is set at $18.95.

A two-time Tony-winner for Song and Dance and Annie Get Your Gun, Peters is a Broadway legend who has received Tony nominations for her performances in the 1972 revival of On the Town, Mack and Mabel, Sunday in the Park with George, The Goodbye Girl and the 2003 revival of Gypsy, in which she startlingly reinvented the role of Rose. She also originated the role of the Witch in Into the Woods, and has appeared in such films as Slaves of New York, Alice, The Jerk and It Runs in the Family.

Patinkin is a Tony-winner for his performance as Che in the original production of Evita, and was also nominated for Sunday in the Park with George and 2000's The Wild Party. Other Broadway credits include The Shadow Box, The Secret Garden and Falsettos. On screen, he has appeared in Yentl, Ragtime, Dick Tracy, Broken Glass and Life with Mikey but he might be best known to most audiences for his performance as Inigo in The Princess Bride. Patinkin is also an Emmy-winner for "Chicago Hope."

Barnes & Noble is located in Union Square at 33 East 17th Street.
