The American Songbook Project will be hosting a benefit on Tuesday, July 26th at Sardi's from 7 to 9 pm. Author and advertising exec, Tyler DeAngelo, will read excerpts from each chapter of his hilarious book "Learn Just Enough to Get Laid" followed by several of New York's finest male artists performing sons on each chapter's topic: cooking, wine, speaking French, astronomy, construction, magic, guitar, and religion. The reading of each chapter's excerpt will be followed by a suitable selection from the American Songbook, performed by some of New York's most eligible and ineligible bachelors. The evening will feature musical direction by Lance Horne, composer, recording artist, Juilliard faculty, member of the TASP Board of Directors.

Set to take part in the festivities are Christian Campbell, Peter Gallagher, Sean Harkness, Jeremiah James, John Malino, and Robert Petkoff. Tickets are $75 for General Admission and $50 for Guild Members. A cash bar will be available.

The American Songbook Project was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. It brings singers from Broadway and cabaret into New York City schools and community organizations to introduce young people to some of the beautiful melodies and meaningful lyrics of the American songs that are part of their heritage. These one-hour programs include not only American popular standards, but also some of the great new songs being written by today's talented composers. No matter where these young students travel around the world, American songs will no doubt be playing in the background. These songs are their birthright as American citizens and one of the glories of our country. Through these programs, we hope to be planting the seeds to develop new songwriters, performers, and if nothing else, new listeners.
