Legendary former Beatles member Paul McCartney will be involved with a new stage show, according to the London Telegraph.

He will serve as musical director for the production, which is based upon his youthful days in Liverpool.  The show, which is based upon his own classical work "The Liverpool Oratorio," will open in either London or Liverpool, most likely in 2008.

McCartney has been working on the project for some time, but it was delayed due to divorce proceedings with wife Heather Mills.  Kate Robbins, McCartney's cousin, is working with him on its adaptation.

"The Liverpool Oratorio" premiered in London in 1991.  Commemorating that city's 150th anniversary, the work (McCartney's first classical piece) was performed by Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Jerry Hadley, among others.

With the late John Lennon and George Harrison, as well as McCartney and Ringo Starr, the Beatles were the UK's superstar rock band throughout the 1960s.  Beatlemania and Lennon are just two of the stage shows the band has inspired.  McCartney has also played as a member of the band Wings, and has a successful career as a solo artist.
