Subculture has announced three upcoming events for the month of May. Scottish classical guitarist Paul Galbraith performs Bach and Mozart on Monday, May 5th, prolific songstress Rachael Sage debuts her EP, New Destination, on Thursday, May 8th, and genre-bending band Danny Fox Trio celebrates the release of their CD, Wide Eyed on Friday, May 9th. Paul Galbraith will perform Monday, May 5, 2014. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

Paul Galbraith is a classical guitarist known for his innovative arrangements of classical music for guitar, as well as the co-invention and development of the 8-string Brahms guitar. The Grammy nominated musician has toured internationally, playing with renowned orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and the BBC Philharmonic, in addition to solo performances at Prague's Dvorák Hall and Moscow Chamber Orchestra. His album, Bach: The Six Sonatas and Partitas, was nominated for a Grammy and reached Billboard's Top 10 in the classical charts. His performance at SubCulture on May 5th will feature works by Bach and Mozart, played on his 8-string Brahms Guitar. For more information, visit www.paul-galbraith.com.

Rachael Sage & The Sequins will release their EP, New Destination, at SubCulture on Thursday, May 8 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and can be purchased at http://www.subculturenewyork.com/event/469729-rachael-sage-sequins-ep-new-york.

Danny Fox Trio will celebrate the release of their CD Wide Eyed at SubCulture on Friday May 9 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at http://www.subculturenewyork.com/event/477047-danny-fox-trio-cd-release-new-york.

Comprised of pianist Danny Fox, bassist Chris van Voorst van Beest, and drummer Max Goldman, the Danny Fox Trio has a jazzy, classical, funk sound, with a bit of everything in-between. The genre-bending band names Ellington, Bartok, and The Meters as examples of some of their influences, and can switch cohesively from improvisation to a classical sound at the drop of a hat.
