Patti LuPone and Bobby Cannavale Set to Lead THE ROSE TATTOO Benefit for the Acting Company

Broadway stars Patti LuPone and Bobby Cannavale head the cast of The Rose Tattoo one night only-Monday, April 27 at 7pm-directed by Doug Hughes at Broadway's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. A benefit performance for The Acting Company, The Rose Tattoo is one of Tennessee Williams' greatest works winning multiple Tony Awards, including Best Play. Patti LuPone is a two-time Tony Award recipient (Evita, Gypsy) and regularly appears on television, in films and concert halls around the world. Bobby Cannavale is an Emmy Award-winning actor (Boardwalk Empire) whose recent Broadway shows include The Big Knife, Glengarry Glen Ross and the Mother-----r with the Hat. "The Rose Tattoo is the story of Serafina, a Louisiana widow who withdraws from the world after her husband's death and expects her daughter to do the same," noted Margot Harley, Producer of The Acting Company. "One day, a man resembling her late husband comes into her life and unlocks her fiery passion, wit, anger and pride."

"This is a play of power, humanity and soaring emotion," added Ms. LuPone, a founding alumna of The Acting Company. Additional Acting Company Alumni will be added to the cast as well as other Broadway regulars.

Founded in 1972 by John Houseman and Margot Harley, The Acting Company has toured 139 productions to 48 states and 10 foreign countries earning a TONY for Excellence in Theater, Obies, Audelcos and Los Angeles Critics Circle Awards. In addition to Patti LuPone, Kevin Kline, Rainn Wilson, Frances Conroy, Jeffrey Wright, Harriet Harris, Keith David, Hamish Linklater and Jesse L. Martin are but a handful of other actors who began their careers on tour with The Acting Company.
