Patti LuPone is confirmed to kick off Purchase College Performing Arts Center's 32nd season with a special concert on October 3rd entitled, "Matters Of The Heart," the star reveals in an interview printed on lohud.com. And no, she will not be singing her now signature "Rose's Turn" as Mama Rose, her multiple award-winning role in the most recent Broadway revival of Gypsy.
"I was exhausted by the end of the run," says LaPone of the number in which she broke down (quite literally) eight times a week. "I sing that at some concerts, but not in ‘Matters of the Heart.'"
Also omitted from the program will be any number from Sunset Boulevard, a score which LaPone simply does not like and does not like to sing. LaPone will sing a collection of show tunes backed by a five piece band that will no doubt exceed expectations, as usual.

Upcoming performances for the multiple Tony-winning star include a concert with Evita co-star Mandy Patinkin at Chicago's Cadillac Theatre from March 2nd - 7th, 2010.
