Parthenia Viol Consort Performs 'Through the Labyrinth Concert' Tonight

Parthenia, New York's premiere viol consort, will perform Through the Labyrinth, a concert tonight, February 6 at 7:30 PM at The Church in the Gardens, 50 Ascan Avenue, Forest Hills, Queens. This is the second event of their 2015-16 concert series, and is presented by Musica Reginae Productions.

Parthenia will perform five centuries of consorts for four viols, featuring early music composers William Byrd, Anthony Holborne, Nicholas Patterson, Tobias Hume, Henry Purcell and others, alongside contemporary composers Frances White, Will Ayton, David Fetherolf, Haley Kallenberg and Richard Einhorn. Parthenia is a dynamic quartet of viols which animates ancient and contemporary repertoires with a superb sound and a remarkable sense of ensemble. The ensemble produces its own concert series in NYC, collaborating regularly with the world's foremost early music specialists including Piffaro, Julianne Baird, Paul O'Dette, Blue Heron and ARTEK. Parthenia actively commissions and premieres works by today's composers including Eleonor Sandresky, Richard Einhorn, Phil Kline, Frances White, Max Lifchitz, Will Ayton, Nicholas Patterson and Kristin Norderval.
