Parsons Dance and Gala Chair Linda Stocknoff announce the company's 2013 Annual Spring Gala, Strike up the Band! honoring the Board of Trustees of the Harkness Foundation for Dance: Theodore Bartwink, William Perlmuth, and Etta Brandman, on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 7pm at the Mandarin Oriental, 80 Columbus Circle at 60th Street, NYC. The evening, which will be hosted by MC Brett Siddel, will begin with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and silent auction at 7pm, followed by dinner and live auction at 8pm, with a sneak peak of a never-before-seen new piece choreographed by David Parsons. The night will continue with the creation of a brand-new dance created on the spot through improvisation with a ten-piece big band, followed by social dancing with the band. Theodore S. Bartwink received his BS in Accounting at Long Island University and is JD and Master of Laws from Brooklyn Law School. Since 1968 he has been Executive Director and Member of the Board of Trustees for The Harkness Foundation for Dance. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Joyce Theatre Foundation and President of the Board for The Early Stages Program for Children - of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting. Mr. Bartwink is a member of the Advisory Board of the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries @ NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases - (Chairman), The 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center, Committee for the Dance Collection @ The NY Public Library for the Performing Arts, City Center's Outreach Program, New York Grant Makers in the Arts, Dance Funders Committee, Career Transition for Dancers. He is a member of the National Association of Schools of Dance and The League of American Theaters and Producers. Mr. Bartwink has been honored by Ballet Hispanico, Brooklyn Academy Of Music, Career Transition for Dancers, Dance Library of Israel, The 92nd Street Y.
