On March 9 & 10, Pace University’s inaugural Pace Presents season at the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts in Lower Manhattan presents Laurie Anderson’s Delusion. In Delusion, "Anderson uses video, spoken word and musical performance to explore her feelings about identity, memory, language and mortality. With this series of vignettes, Anderson draws from a variety of personal experiences including the death of her mother, her own childhood and her relationship with her pet terrier. She also touches on larger political issues and her male alter-ego, Fenway Bergamot, makes an appearance in the performance."
Originally trained as a sculptor, Laurie Anderson has been making experimental music and performance art since the 1970s. She’s known for embracing electronic instruments and sounds and using technology in her performances. Her 1981 song “O Superman” brought Anderson more mainstream recognition, reaching #2 on the UK Pop Charts. Delusion was originally performed at the 2010 Olympic Games in Canada and has been performed across North America and Europe.
