"PREformances with Allison Charney" classical concert series will feature superstar pianist Navah Perlman and the ARK trio in new works by noted composers Kim Sherman and Dina Pruzhansky at JCC Manhattan's intimate Goldman Sonnenfeltd Auditorium February 6th at 12:30 PM.

The concert will present Ms. Perlman in works by Prokofiev and Beethoven in anticipation of her upcoming 2017 solo recitals. An audience favorite known for her lyrical eloquence on the stage, Navah Perlman has established herself as one of the most poetic and admired pianists of her generation. She has performed to critical acclaim in major concert venues throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

The concert will be the first public introduction of the ARK trio (whose members include soprano Allison Charney, Swedish cellist Kajsa William-Olsson and pianist Reiko Uchida) to NYC audiences before the ARK trio's New York concert debut in 'Love Resounding' on February 14th at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space.

Performances' February 6th concert will also include special guest composer Dina Pruzhansky. In addition to having her work performed during the concert, Ms. Pruzhansky will speak to the audience about the commissioning 'Of Love and Land' by the ARK trio. Together with compositions by composers Michael Ching, Moshe Knoll and Kim Sherman, Pruzhansky's work will be among the six world premieres presented by the ARK trio on February 14, 2017.

Now in its eighth season and co-produced within the JCC Manhattan's Lambert Center for Arts + Ideas, the inspiration for 'PREformances' draws from founder and host Allison Charney's personal perspective as both an audience member and performer. Ms. Charney's experience includes singing Puccini's leading soprano roles with the New York City Opera and with opera companies throughout the country. "In each concert, 'PREformances' seeks to provide artists and audience the unique experience obtained in an intimate concert venue where traditional boundaries between performer and audience are deconstructed and reimagined" said Allison. "While 'PREformances' concerts are professionally rehearsed and not impromptu, the experimental dimension of the performance, which allows artists the opportunity to explore new material outside of the intended performance context, is fully realized."

Located on 76th Street and Amsterdam, Goldman Sonnenfeldt Auditorium is a key cultural asset of the JCC Manhattan, a vibrant non-profit community center on the Upper West Side and home to the Lambert Center for Arts + Ideas, presenter of PREFORMANCES WITH Allison Charney. The cornerstone of progressive programming in Manhattan, the JCC serves over 55,000 people annually through 1,200 programs each season that educate, inspire, and transform participants' minds, bodies, and spirits. Since its inception, the JCC has been committed to serving the community by offering programs and services that reach beyond neighborhood boundaries. Programs at the JCC reach people at all stages of their lives, and serve the entire family and community. Proceeds from 'PREformances with Allison Charney" help support the pivotal work of The Basser Center for BRCA and the breadth of arts programing at the JCC.
