PREFORMANCES WITH ALLISON CHARNEY To Launch Tenth Anniversary Season On Monday October 22

On Monday October 22 at New York City's acoustically renown Merkin Concert Hall, Kaufmann Music Center acclaimed opera singer, curator and host Allison Charney will welcome audiences to "PREFORMANCES WITH Allison Charney" Tenth Anniversary Season. In keeping with PREFORMANCES long held tradition the highly anticipated season premiere of the popular classical music series will feature a stellar cast of guest artists including Baritone Gustavo Ahualli, Violinist Kelly Hall-Tompkins and Pianists Joel Fan, and Donna Weng Friedman who will join soprano Allison Charney in performance, together with PREFORMANCES collaborative pianist Craig Ketter

The concert program will include a preview of the new series Her/Music; Her/Story, operatic selections from Verdi's Don Carlo, Massenet's Herodiade and Leoncavallo's Pagliacci, masterpieces by Schubert, Liszt, Ravel, Strauss and Beach and, in anticipation of its world premiere, a sneak peek at The Clara Cycle by American composer Kim D. Sherman.

As always, acclaimed opera singer Allison Charney will guide the audience through a behind-the-scenes glimpse at these top-level artists' practices and performances, all while breaking the traditional barriers that exist between classical music performers and audience members.

Throughout its previous nine seasons, PREFORMANCES WITH Allison Charney has presented over 100 of the preeminent musicians of our time. Notable appearances include those by New York Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert, Metropolitan Opera stars William Burden and Maria Zifchak, "Queen of the Flute," Carol Wincenc, violinist Kelly Hall-Tompkins of Broadway's "Fiddler on the Roof" fame, and concert pianists Joel Fan and Navah Perlman, just to name a few. In addition, the series has presented new classical works by composers Michael Ching, Moshe Knoll, Kim D. Sherman and Dina Pruzhansky.
