Yonder Window Productions is proud to present the world premiere of PLACES, a multimedia solo show about Alla Nazimova, supported by the League of Professional Theatre Women's Heritage Program, written and performed by Romy Nordlinger and developed and directed by Katie McHugh.
Long before there was a Madonna the world was Gaga over Nazimova. But this femme fatale heroine swimming upstream in a 1920's fishbowl full of sharks was forced into obscurity and shamed for her forward thinking and lesbianism. From Tsarist Russia to Broadway to the highest paid silent movie star, Alla Nazimova was the first female director and producer in Hollywood. Rags to riches to bisexual decadence, she defied the moral and artistic codes of her time. A trailblazer pushed into obscurity - Nazimova will not be silenced. A racy multimedia look at one of the most daring voices and talents of the 20th century, Nazimova tells it like it was... and is.
