PHOTOVILLE To Return To Brooklyn Bridge Plaza, 9/13-24

Sam Barzilay, Dave Shelley and Laura Roumanos, co-founders of the small but ambitious, Brooklyn-based organization United Photo Industries (UPI), are pleased to announce dates for the sixth annual Photoville, the free pop-up photography village in and around shipping containers turned into galleries. From September 13-24, Photoville will take over the Brooklyn Waterfront, centrally located in the Brooklyn Bridge Plaza directly under the iconic bridge in DUMBO.

Like years before, there will be containers, exhibitions, talks and workshops. The Smorgasburg Beer Garden and food vendors will return, alongside night time events, and this year the festival will be more immersed throughout the park than ever before.

After receiving such an overwhelming positive response to the location last year, and along with numerous requests that Photoville stay open longer, the festival's organizers have expanded back to two weekends. UPI will be announcing programming and much more later this summer.

This year's Photoville roster will include many great partners from years past, as well as some new ones. In addition, UPI are always looking for new programming partners to join Photoville, so they've reserved a few containers just for that.

From today through April 24, UPI will be accepting exhibition proposals for Photoville 2017. There is no fee to apply, and the UPI team will carefully consider each proposal to identify those best suited to the aesthetic, dynamic and mission of Photoville.
