The actor will take on the role of Johan, described as "the hipster brother of Bow," portrayed by Tracee Ellis Ross. Diggs will appear in at least six episodes in a story arc which debuts on September 28th.
Diggs tells EW: "It's kinda the only thing on TV I'm excited to watch the day it comes out. Who watches TV like that anymore?" Of his character on the show, the 34-year-old shares, "He's an interesting foil for Dre [Anthony Anderson]. He's kind of a harbinger of doom in terms of what these kids could grow up to be: this kind of post-race, out-of-touch guy who's behaving as if all of these hardships are over and nothing is wrong."
Black-ish season 3 premieres Sept. 21 at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
Diggs' national tour credits include Word Becomes Flesh. Regional credits include In the Red and Brown Water, Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train, The Tempest, Troilus and Cressida, Mirrors in Every Corner. Albums include CLPPNG (Sub Pop Records) and Midcity with Clipping; Small Things to a Giant.
