Producing Artistic Director Elizabeth Flemming and Out of the Box Theatrics announces the second season of the sold out reading series Building theBox. Curated by Associate Artistic Director, Ethan Paulini, this new series features 4 new pieces that are being considered for full production in the 2019 (and beyond) season.
With are newed commitment to World, American and New York Premieres, this series is designed to give OOTB subscribers and patrons unprecedented access to the programming process, the opportunity to provide feedback to an in progress new play and get a sneak peek into what is ahead, not only from OOTB, but from some of America's most exciting new playwrights.

She returns home for the holidays, and is finally made to confront the forces that ended her running career and re-charted her life. A bittersweet, sometimes funny, and brutally honest portrait of young people that spans both coasts, Before This NewYear explores themes of love, loss, identity, and ultimately what it means to come-of age in this hyper contemporary world.The cast will include Julesy Flavelle, Suzanne Dressler, Nick Daly, Justin Senense, Sierra Jackson, Iliana Garcia and Liana Sonenclar. Liana Sonenclar is a writer and actress based in New York City. As an actress, she has performed Off Broadway, and also shoots comic memes for Elite Daily. Her original play"Before This New Year" premiered with Ivy Theatre Company in their reading festival "24Hours of Women." Her most recent short story, "Alibi", was a finalist for the Al BlanchardAward at the New England Crime Bake, in which she was the youngest writer in history to place. Liana currently works for the League of Professional Theater Women. She is a reader of new work for Parity Productions and is a member of The Dramatists Guild. Liana studied English at the University of Chicago, and is currently completing her BFA in drama at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
Amy E. Jones is a NY based director, choreographer and musical director. Most recently, Amy directed a reading of YOUlogy, a new musical(book by Charlie Johnson/music/lyrics byEthan Andersen). Last year, Amy directed/choreographed Joseph and the AmazingTechnicolor Dreamcoat, Annie and Smokey Joe'sCafe at Flat Rock Playhouse, directed/musical directed Ring of Fire at Virginia Stage, and directed readings of 3 new musicals in NYC. Amy has provided choreography for BroadwayBackwards 8 and 9 at the Hirschfeld Theatre andPalace Theatre(Broadway), served as the musical director for Texas In Paris at the YorkTheatre in NYC(Audelco nomination for best Musical Direction), and has provided dramaturgy for the new musicals Alice, Warsaw, and Junk: A RockOpera.
