Ottmar Liebert and Luna Negra will deliver an evening of contemporary music on Friday, May 7th at 8:00 PM at BB Kings, in Manhattan. Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra have recorded and toured for many years. This year marks the twentieth anniversary for Ottmar's debut album "Nouveau Flamenco", released in April of 1990, and the twentieth year of Ottmar touring with Luna Negra. Liebert has been regarded as ‘the high bar' of modern, world, flamenco guitar. Since 1990 he has released a total of 25 recordings including 14 CDs of original music, five of which were nominated for Grammys. Ottmar has sold over 5 million CD's in the U.S., and has 30 Gold and Platinum awards to his credit.
This spring and summer the band adds a string of performances with a new trio that features Jon Gagan on bass guitar and Michael Chavez on drumkit. The new Luna Negra trio performed for the first time last September in Saratoga. Later they played in Japan for a week and everyone realized that this was a special group. Ottmar started writing music tailored to the trio for a new recording.
