Beloved Broadway songstress and budding country music maven, Rachel Potter, is primed to deliver another knockout performance on July 29 th at NYC's Joes Pub. On the heels of what was such a dynamic debut of her "Live the Dream" EP that NYC and Nashville music industry heavyweights in attendance continue to "sing" Potter's praises, this second show guarantees a passion-packed and edgy musical experience that has come to be the expectation for a Rachel Potter concert. One of those legends in attendance was revered country music icon, Miss Reba McEntire, who immediately took to her Facebook and Twitter feeds to proclaim her approval and adoration of the rising star!
Guest starring is TONY nominee, Laura Osnes (Bonnie and Clyde, Anything Goes, South Pacific, Grease…), and critically acclaimed recording artist and musical theatre performer, Katie Thompson (Solo albums: Private Page (20122), KT LIVE (2005), What I've Done Right (2001), Theatre: Giant, Spider Musical, Blood-ties, Cloaked, Ripper, R.R.R.E.D., The Lighthouse Project, and Piece…). Opening the show will be Cosmo-Country Duo, The Vanity Belles, and the set list will include Rachel's new original music, all six songs from the EP, and cover a variety of well-known country favorites. The show will also feature a mind-blowing roster of NYC's finest instrumentalists: Miles Aubrey, Matt Hinkley, Joe Brent, Shannon Ford, and Mairi Dorman. Superior background vocals provided by Marty Thomas (Wicked, Xanadu, The Secret Garden), and Jennifer Thigpen (CeCe Winans, Roberta Flack, Kirk Franklin, Sandi Patty, Avalon, Point of Grace).
The album is a collaboration with Nashville vet, Justin York, who's notable industry cred includes work as a songwriter, producer, engineer, and guitarist for well-known acts: Paramore, Katy Perry, and Tait. NYC Theatermania raves, "Potter, who is currently appearing on Broadway as the "Mistress" in "Evita," displays her talents as both a singer and a songwriter on this six-song EP, where country meets rock and roll. Each of the tunes has a twangy zest, and Potter belts them out with warmth and deep feeling, particularly "Just a Show," an excellent reimagining of the "my man's done me wrong" narrative, and "Never You Mind," which, with a more crashing heavy metal sound, similarly revisits a tale of love gone wrong."
Join Rachel at 7pm on July 29th for an evening that is sure to win over the hearts of Broadway and country music fans alike. Her first show sold out fast so pick up tickets today for $15 at www.joespub.com. Upcoming appearances include a second stop on the tour, August 26th, at NYC's Hill Country BBQ (details to follow).
