Oskar Eustis To Emcee Lapham's Quarterly Decades Ball, 6/3

Lapham's Quarterly (Editor and Publisher Lewis Lapham) announced today their annual gala, the DECADES BALL: The 1950s, will take place on Monday, June 3 at Capitale (130 Bowery at Grand Street).

Jane and Morley Safer are Benefit Chairs and Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director of The Public Theater, will emcee.

The evening's entertainment includes lively readings and performances, which highlight the voices from screen, stage, music and literature of the era. Performers include actors Tom Hanks, Patricia Clarkson, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Martha Plimpton, and Ari Graynor; playwright Tony Kushner; and poet Paul Muldoon. Singer-comedienne Nellie McKay will perform classic songs by Doris Day.

Morley Safer will present the Janus Prize to historian Kevin Phillips.

The evening will celebrate Lapham's Quarterly's sixth year of publication. The Benefit Committee includes esteemed artists and patrons such as Woody Allen, Jeanne Donovan Fisher, RoBert Gould, Elizabeth J.M. Prince, and Oliver Stone.

Tickets for the DECADES BALL are $500 for individuals, with tables available for $10,000, $25,000, and $50,000.

- Patron level tables at $10,000 include VIP seating, acknowledgment on all event materials, print and online, and in the video presentation during the event.

- Benefactor level tables for $25,000 include VIP seating, acknowledgment on all event materials and in the video presentation and a full-page advertisement in the program.

- Sponsor level tables of $50,000 and above include VIP seating, acknowledgment on all event materials and in the video presentation, a full-page advertisement in the program and a VIP photo opportunity with the stars of the evening.

LEWIS LAPHAM is the founder, editor, and publisher of Lapham's Quarterly, and editor emeritus of Harper's Magazine. Lapham in 2007 was inducted into the American Society of Magazine Editors Hall of Fame. He is the author of thirteen books, among them Money and Class in America, The Wish for Kings, Waiting for the Barbarians andTheater of War. He produces a weekly podcast, "The World in Time" for Bloomberg News, and his documentary film, The American Ruling Class has become part of the curriculum in many of the nation's schools and colleges. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Lapham has lectured at many of the nation's leading universities, including Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, and Stanford and the Universities of Michigan, Virginia, and Oregon.
