Michael Mitnick, the playwright of SEX LIVES OF OUR PARENTS and screenwriter behind the upcoming Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Shannon film THE CURRENT WAR, has an ambitious new play trilogy being released by Original Works Publishing at the end of January.

Part I, ELIJAH (Past): 1922: Elijah, a broke student from Brooklyn, arrives in Paris and becomes an accidental Don Juan over-night. While hunting his idol, a reclusive composer of ballets, Elijah is swept into a life changing summer of sex, opium, and blackmail. 4 Males, 5 Females.
From the Introduction by Paula Vogel: "Elijah is in parts a seductive, elegant nocturne for the stage, and in parts a taut, comedy of menace in the vein of Patricia Highsmith."
"A sixteen character, multi-media, epic romp" -TheatreMania

Part II, ED, DOWNLOADED (Future): Set in a future where one can purchase immortality and spend an afterlife in a digital heaven of one's favorite memories, technological advancements bring infinite possibilities. Half live action play and half film, Ed, Downloaded is a sci-fi love story for high-tech dreamers. 1 Male, 2 Females.
From the Introduction by Sam Buntrock: "Ed, Downloaded transports us smoothly from one medium to another, not because it chooses, but because it must."
"funny, whipsmart and melancholy sci-fi outing... full of laughs and moral quandaries" -Denver Post

Part III, BABS THE DODO (Present): Despite a heart of 14k gold, Babs is over-the-hill and facing extinction as a top On-Air personality at the Home Shopping Network. Love appears from unexpected places as Babs fights to survive. This deliriously dark comedy sets Babs in the sale of her life as she grasps for love, happiness and sparkle. 2 Males, 2 Females.
From the Introduction by John Weidman: "Michael Mitnick's voice−witty, compassionate, and humane−leading us through Babs the Dodo not unlike the Stage Manager leading us through Our Town."
"Midlife crises are rarely this much fun. You feel for Babs as she searches for love and validity in the face of "extinction," and can't help but be impressed by the whiplash Mitnick's script gives you. It's sharp, quick, smart." -Seattle Met

Speaking on his motivations for the trilogy Mitnick said: "At the center of any narrative-driven play is the desire for someone to want something to happen in the hopes of achieving a kind of happiness. It's understandable that this theatrical central wish matches the political language tacked onto the end of the Declaration of Independence. Our American search for an unattainable, shape-shifting sense of fulfillment is the engine of our daily lives. I wanted to write three plays - one per year - each set 100 years apart that played with this elusive goal in three uncommon genres. ELIJAH is a noir exploration of artistic fulfillment; ED, DOWNLOADED is a sci-fi dip into a perfect afterlife; and BABS THE DODO is a satire of retail therapy and loneliness."

The complete trilogy is available to pre-order through Original Works Publishing for a discounted price of $31.99. https://www.originalworksonline.com/MitnickTrilogy

Individual copies will be available in print and digital in February via Original Works, Amazon and Google Play.
