'On The Spot' is the only show in New York City that combines the dulcet tones of cabaret, with the frantic hilarity of improv comedy. Weekly guest singers prepare songs and improvisers build a show around them. The results never fail to bring laughs.
Critics have called it "spot-on", "fun-filled", "top-notch" and "laugh-out-loud". As well as being "a show that takes 'anything for a laugh' to new heights of bravery!" (Hi! Drama, Ludus NYC, Culture Catch).
Guest artists have included Christine Dwyer (Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway, Ensemble in Jesus Christ Superstar: Live), Brian Falduto (Fancypants in Richard Linklater's 'School of Rock'), Amanda Nicholas, (Off-Broadway Sensation 'Bayside! The Musical!), and Billboard Top 40 singer Janine Berenson.
This anniversary show sees the return of some all-time audience favorites. Actress and singer-songwriter Claire Elise Walton, the afore-mentioned Amanda Nicholas, Ken Monreal (50% of comedy duo The Jimmy Swaggers), and Pam Zazzarino, about to embark on an extended tour with Creativiva.
The evening promises to be a melding of the best of musical theatre and improvised comedy. However, the team has a serious side too. They have decided, in honor of the occasion, to donate the evening's ticket take to Everytown for Gun Safety, a movement of Americans working together to end gun violence and build safer communities. In the past On The Spot has also raised money for the ACLU.
On The Spot's three-year anniversary show will be on April 23rd, 8pm, at the Broadway Comedy Club. Tickets can be bought at TodayTix or for a donation at the door. One drink minimum.
