Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that Oliver Platt will make his Broadway debut in Conor McPherson's Shining City at the Biltmore Theatre (261 West 47th Street). Previews for the show begin on April 13, 2006 for a May 3, 2006 opening.

Originally produced at London's Royal Court Theater to critical acclaim, Shining City focuses on John (Oliver Platt), "a guilt-ridden man who visits a therapist after seeing the ghost of his recently deceased wife. What starts out as an everyday exchange becomes a gripping struggle to survive – a struggle that will change both men for the rest of their lives," according to press notes.

The production will be directed by Tony Award-winner Robert Falls. Additional casting will be announced at a future date.

Oliver Platt recently garnered Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for his work in the critically acclaimed Showtime series "Huff," which just completed filming its second season. Platt will also be seen in the films, Casanova, directed by Lasse Hallstrom, and Ice Harvest, in which he stars with John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton. He most recently worked with Cusack on the feature Martian Child, for New Line Cinema. Other film credits include Funnybones, Bullworth, Married to the Mob, Working Girl, Flatliners, Postcards from the Edge, Indecent Proposal, The Three Musketeers, A Time to Kill, Doctor Dolittle, Simon Birch, Lake Placid, Don't Say a Word and Pieces of April. Theatre credits include The Tempest, Moon Over Miami, Elliot Loves and Twelfth Night. He received an Emmy nomination for his guest performance on "The West Wing."
