Whatsonstage.com reports today that The Old Vic New Voices educational sector has announced that it will begin 2012 with some new programming. Among the highlights are a partnership with the Edinburgh Underbelly for five new productions to premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and a production of Morgan Lloyd Malcolm's new musical, Epidemic.

In partnership with Underbelly, The Old Vic will provide resources to support new writers with marketing, technical and staff resources. Epidemic is the largest project under The Old Vic New Voices banner and that focuses on global health and will feature a multicultural cast of over 100.

The season will also include the seventh annual 24 Hour Plays, in partnership with the 24 Hour Play Company and IdeasTap. The project is the ultimate theatrical challenge, to make 7 plays in just one day.

Additional opportunities are available with the Tunnels program, in which 21 spots are made available to talent to participate in The Old Vic New Voices season. From staging plays, screening films, hosting club nights, or something completely different, the Tunnels team are on hand to offer support, help and guidance.
