The Public Theater has announced that the world premiere of Satellites, written by Diana Son and directed by Michael Greif, will begin previews on Tuesday, May 30 in the Martinson Theater. The show, featuring Sandra Oh and more, will open on Sunday, June 18th.
"New parents Nina (Oh) and Miles (Kevin Carroll), an interracial couple, move into a transforming neighborhood in Brooklyn. They have a new house, a new baby, and only one of them has a job. Old friends and new strangers come into their lives, testing their instincts on who to trust and why. Hilarious and heart-rending complications ensue around questions of parenting, racial identity, community and the way we live now in this exciting new play by the author of
Stop Kiss," according to production notes.
Satellites was commissioned by The Public Theater. In 2004, it was presented in New Work Now!, The Public's nationally recognized annual series that showcases new work from emerging and established artists. The world premiere is part of The Public's 50th Anniversary season.
