TVLine.com confirms recent reports that Neil Patrick Harris has joined the current season of FX's AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW. Joining the Tony Award winning actor will be his real-life husband David Burtka.

According to the site, Harris is set to appear in the final two episodes of the current season portraying "a chameleon salesman." Burtka will join him for the season finale in what is being described as "a sexy storyline with Jessica Lange's batty chanteuse."

Back in July, the 'Hedwig' star revealed that he hoped to make an appearance on the fourth installment of the anthology series, telling EW Radio that he had written a letter to Ryan Murphy requesting a spot on the show. "I wrote a letter to Ryan asking if I can be in it, even though I wasn't even available to be in it...I just love those series and Coven was fantastic...to do one that involves any kind of freak, circus nonsense is going to be so unsettling to watch. Can't wait!"

Murphy responded to Harris on Twitter, saying "[O]f course you can be on Freak Show! I have a role I think you'd love."

In October, Murphy shared with EOnline, "I spoke to Neil a week ago. He was fresh off his wedding. Obviously we have worked together before, I'm working on something and hopefully we will talk net week. He's game. He had very specific ideas of what he wanted to do, and I had very specific ideas, so we're melding them. He's awesome, one of our great entertainers, and I would love to see him and Jessica Lange go at it in some intriguing way. Because of his schedule, something we're thinking about, maybe one episode and then another one later on."

This will not be the first time Harris and Murphy have worked together. The talented 'HIMYM' star appeared on an episode of GLEE which earned him an Emmy Award for for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. It was recently announced that NPH will host the upcoming Oscars and headline his own variety series on NBC. Quite a year for the star!

A triple-threat performer, Neil Patrick Harris has enjoyed a successful career in entertainment. He can currently be seen starring opposite Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike in David Fincher's critically-acclaimed feature film, "Gone Girl." Harris garnered multiple Emmy® and Golden Globe award nominations for his role as Barney Stinson on the hit television series, "How I Met Your Mother," and he won an Emmy for his guest-starring role on "Glee" in 2010. He also recently starred in the title role of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" on Broadway, earning the 2014 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Harris served as host of the 61st and 65th Primetime Emmy Awards, as well as the 63rd, 65th, 66th and 67th Tony Awards, for which he won four Emmys. Most recently, Harris added the title of author to his list of accomplishments with the release of his autobiography from Crown Publishing, Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography.
