The cast of Gerard Alessandrini's FORBIDDEN BROADWAY COMES OUT SWINGING! records the original cast CD for DRG Records today at Avatar Studios. Produced by Hugh Fordin, the release date is soon to be announced. This CD marks Forbidden Broadway's 12th cast recording with DRG Records. Featured on the original cast recording are cast members Carter Calvert, Scott Richard Foster, Mia Gentile and Marcus Stevens, with David Caldwell on piano. The show is currently playing at the Davenport Theatre (354 West 45th Street - between 8th and 9th Avenues). FORBIDDEN BROADWAY COMES OUT SWINGING! ­opened on May 4th of this year. Critical acclaim and audience reception has been unanimous. Ben Brantley of the New York Times said the show is "Highly entertaining and it makes you want to applaud yourself silly!" Thom Geier of Entertainment Weekly called Forbidden Broadway Comes Out Swinging! "A comic masterpiece" and went on to say it's "Wickedly caustic fun". Mark Kennedy of the Associated Press acclaimed: "Forbidden Broadway Comes Out Swinging! is a must see." Fern Siegel of the Huffington Post cheered, "This is what entertainment is all about."

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY COMES OUT SWINGING! will return to London beginning a season at The Menier Chocolate Factory on June 25th, 2014, with an official opening set for July 2nd.

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY COMES OUT SWINGING! features Gerard Alessandrini's parodies of Broadway's biggest shows and brightest stars, including Idina Menzel, Hedwig, Aladdin, Bullets Over Broadway, The Bridges of Madison County, Kinky Boots, Matilda, Pippin, the turntable-less Les Miz, The Sound of Music Live! and The Book of Mormon ,among others.

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY COMES OUT SWINGING! is created and written by Gerard Alessandrini, and directed by Phillip George and Mr. Alessandrini, with musical direction by David Caldwell, set by Megan K. Halpern, lighting by Mark T. Simpson, costumes by Dustin Cross and Philip Heckman, sound by Matt Kraus and wigs by Bobbie Cliffton Zlotnick. The show is produced by John Freedson, Harriet Yellin and Paul Bartz, in association with Paul G. Rice, Carol Ostrow, Paxton Quigley and Robert Driemeyer, Jamie deRoy, Lawrence Poster and Tweiss Productions.

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY has been an unstoppable force in theatre since 1982, when Gerard Alessandrini created the first edition that lampooned the Broadway shows and stars of the day who often stop by to laugh at themselves alongside the public. FORBIDDEN BROADWAY has won numerous awards in its history including a 2006 Tony Honor, Drama Critics' Circle, Obie, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Drama League, and Lucille Lortel Awards. What started as a small cabaret act at West 72nd Street's Palsson's Supper Club is now one of New York City's best-loved and most highly anticipated musicals. FORBIDDEN BROADWAY is a theatrical institution joining the ranks of A Chorus Line and The Phantom of the Opera as one of the longest-running shows in New York.

Under the new ownership and management of Davenport Theatrical Enterprises, the Davenport Theatre (formerly the 45th Street Theatre and re-named in memory of producer Delbert Essex Davenport), recently underwent major renovations to better serve the needs of the Off-Broadway producing and theatergoing community featuring two new theatres.

The playing schedule for FORBIDDEN BROADWAY COMES OUT SWINGING! is as follows: Mondays and Tuesdays at 7PM, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 7:00pm, with matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2pm and Sundays at 3PM.
