In this week's edition, we hear from Teal Wicks, who is currently starring as 'Mary Barrie' in Finding Neverland- playing at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Read on to find out her top five picks!

1. Rent

I'm sure this is at the top of the list for everyone who was a teen in the 90's. I was obsessed with this show. It was the first musical album I got for myself, not one my parents had passed along to me. I would listen to the entire album on repeat before I went to sleep. I would quietly sing along, cry and just get lost in the story. This show was a huge discovery for me and was a pivotal moment in me finding my own voice. I could do a musical and be a rockstar in one show? Mind blown!

2. Hair

This was one of my dad's favorite musicals and he would tell the story of sneaking away to see it in SF when it first opened. I love Rock and Roll and I love the 60's and this album took me there. I did a production of it in college and it's still one the best shows I've ever done.

3. Cabaret

The revival album with Alan Cumming and Natasha Richardson is so dark and dirty and decadent. I wanted to be both of them, Sally and the Emcee. You can feel the raw power of the whole company searing through each number. It haunts me and still gives me chills.

4. Carousel

It took me a long time to fully appreciate this show and now I am in love. I think it is pretty much a perfect musical. The seamless transition from scene to song in that infamous bench scene. The characters are complex and flawed, but so passionate and full of heart. The score is just glorious with love songs, funny songs, and beautiful ballets. Louise's ballet brings me to tears, every time. Just. In. Love.

5. The Wild Party

Andrew Lippa's Wild Party was my soundtrack in college. I will never forget hearing "The Juggernaut" at a dance recital for the first time and I bought the album the next day. I love a dark, sexy, twisted story and add some killer songs; I was hooked. I was already trying to belt like Idina after I discovered RENT, but then here comes Julia Murney with a totally different powerhouse voice and I had another diva to try and emulate. And Brian D'arcy James as Burrs is so damn sexy and crazy... whew, I need a drink.
