Oklahoma! plays from tonight, May 18 to June 3 at the Beijing Playhouse.
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most famous showstopper set the standards and established the rules of musical theatre, featuring such classic songs as Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’, Surrey with the Fringe on the Top, and Kansas City. The high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background as they sing and dance their love story. The Pulitzer Prize winning stage show also won Academy Awards when it was turned into a major motion picture.
This huge musical will feature 30 singers and dancers and a crew of 80 or more.

Beijing Playhouse’s performances and auditions for Oklahoma! are at Mako theatre in Shuangjing; just south of Guomao. Rehearsals are at BUCT, a 10 minute walk from the Huixingxijienankou subway station.
Performances are Tuesday—Saturday nights and Sunday matinees, May 18 to June 3, 2012. Rehearsals are evenings at 6:30 pm and Sundays at 2:30 pm in March and April.
