O'Hara, Vereen et al. Lead Town Hall's 90th Season

The Town Hall, Broadway's landmark concert venue, (123 W. 43rd Street) announces its 90th Anniversary season lineup. Headliners include Tony Award ®winning Broadway star Ben Vereen; the acclaimed musical comedy troupe Capitol Steps, back by popular demand; Grammy Award® winning singer and songwriter Don McLean; the world premiere of a new production by the Romulo Larrea Tango Ensemble; Broadway stars Linda Eder and three time Tony Award® nominee Kelli O'Hara; celebrated singers and actors Andrea Marcovicci and Jeff Harner; Grammy and Tony Award® winner Dee Dee Bridgewater and the acclaimed concert series Broadway By The Year®, featuring the years 1921, 1932, 1982 and 1997.

Tickets for the 2011 Town Hall 90th Anniversary season are currently available through mail order only. Visit The Town Hall website at www.the-townhall-nyc.org for a printable order form. Monday, February 14 at 8PM - BROADWAY BY THE YEAR: MUSICALS OF 1921.
Created, written and hosted for The Town Hall by Scott Siegel, The Broadway By The Year series takes the audience on a musical travelogue through the best of the Great White Way for the year 1921, featuring major Broadway and cabaret talents. This program will include the songs "I'm Just Wild About Harry" by Eubie Blake, "Say It With Music" by Irving Berlin, "April Showers," "Toot Toot Tootise," "California, Here I Come," and more! Tickets are $50 & $55. 

Friday, February 18 at 8PM - AN EVENING WITH Ben Vereen
Tony Award® winner Ben Vereen makes his Town Hall debut in a one-man show, that has been performed for audiences around the world. Ben Vereen performs a creative blend of different artistry, combining a tribute to Broadway, Frank Sinatra and a special tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. Mr. Vereen has starred on Broadway in Wicked, Fosse, Chicago, Pippin, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair, Jelly's Last Jam, Grind, A Christmas Carol and I'm Not Rappaport. He has also guest starred on "How I Met Your Mother", "Grey's Anatomy" (Prism Award), "Law & Order: CI", and starred in the Hallmark movie An Accidental Friendship (NAACP Nom.). Friday, February 25 at 8PM - Capitol Steps
With fresh new material that is constantly updated these acclaimed musical, political and social spoofsters return to The Town Hall performing songs from their most recent release, "Liberal Shop of Horrors," as well as new songs in step with breaking news. The Capitol Steps have been a Washington, DC institution for over 20 years, a wacky group of Senate staffers who set out to make fun of the very people and places that employed them. Current examples include the Democrats' plan to defeat the deficit ("Return to Spenders") and their own thoughts for health care reform ("Cash for Codgers"). They have been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN and can be heard nationally on public radio. Capitol Steps puts the "MOCK" in democracy...but Congress can probably say the same thing. Tickets are $45 & $50. 

Monday March 21 at 8PM - BROADWAY BY THE YEAR: MUSICALS OF 1932
The second event of this season's Broadway By The Year was created, written and hosted exclusively for The Town Hall by Scott Siegel. This concert presents songs from the fantastic musicals of the year 1932. Featuring such shows as Kern & Hammerstein's Music in the Air, Irving Berlin's Face the Music, Cole Porter's Gay Divorce, Deitz & Schwartz's Flying Colors, and more! Tickets are $50 & $55. 

Friday, March 25 at 8PM - Don McLean WITH SPECIAL GUEST DAR WILLIAMS
One of America's classic singer-songwriters, Grammy Award ® winner Don McLean, who has recorded over 40 gold and platinum records worldwide and was inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame, will return to The Town Hall. He will be performing songs from his soon to be released CD Addicted to Black. McLean is associated with his enduring hits "American Pie" and "Vincent (Starry Starry Night)" and his songs have been recorded with artists from almost every musical genre. His special guest Dar Williams is one of the most acclaimed talents of the current folk-pop scene. She will perform songs from her new CD Many Great Companions. Tickets are $45 & $50.

Friday, April 29 at 8PM ROMULO LARREA TANGO ENSEMBLE
Returning to The Town Hall to present the world premiere of their new production Tangos from Gardel to Piazzolla, this acclaimed ensemble has had international success. The ensemble, under the musical direction of maestro Romulo Larrea, with vocalist Verónica Larc, and six tango dancers will take you into a world of intense emotions, beautiful music, outstanding melodies and stunning dances. This evening is a celebration of Gardel and Piazzolla's talent and passion for the immense beauty of Tango. Tickets are $45 & $50. 

Monday, May 16 at 8PM - BROADWAY BY THE YEAR: MUSICALS OF 1982
This piece of the series showcases songs from the musicals of the year 1982. Featuring shows such as Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats and Webber & Rice's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Maury Yeston's Nine, Craig Carnelia's Is There Life After High School?, and more! Tickets are $50 & $55. 

Friday, May 20 at 8PM - AN EVENING WITH Linda Eder
Showcasing one of the greatest contemporary voices of our time, Linda Eder's diverse repertoire spans Broadway, standards, pop, country and jazz. Ms. Eder has been a favorite leading lady on Broadway since her starring role in the musical Jekyll & Hyde. She has performed for sold-out crowds across the country and has been televised on Bravo and PBS. Tickets are $45 & $50. 

Friday, June 3 at 8PM - AN EVENING WITH Kelli O'Hara
One of Broadway's leading ladies and three-time Tony Award ® nominee Kelli O'Hara makes her Town Hall debut. Last seen on the stage in Lincoln Center's South Pacific, Ms. 0'Hara has received critical acclaim for shows from CapitAl Hill to Carnegie Hall. Her long list of Broadway credits also include The Pajama Game opposite Harry Connick Jr. (Tony®, Drama Desk, OCC nominations), Light in the Piazza (Tony®, OCC nominations), and Jekyll & Hyde. Thursday, June 9 at 8PM - EASY TO LOVE: Andrea Marcovicci & Jeff Harnar SING Cole Porter
In celebration of Cole Porter's birthday, Andrea Marcovicci and Jeff Harner; two interpreters of his songbook share their love for Porter's clever, intricate rhyme schemes and remarkable melodies. Performing hits such as "I've Got You Under My Skin", "I Get A Kick Out Of You", "Night And Day" and "Let's Do it", the show sketches pieces of Porter's life from marriage to globetrotter and from Broadway to Hollywood. This birthday celebration perfectly captures the life of America's most sophisticated composer. Tickets are $45 & $50. 

Monday, June 20 at 8PM - BROADWAY BY THE YEAR: MUSICALS OF 1997
This piece of the series presents songs from the musicals of the year 1997. Featuring such shows as Elton John's The Lion King, Frank Wildhorn's The Scarlet Pimpernel and Jekyll & Hyde, Duke Ellington's Play On!, Johnny Mercer's Dream, Jeffrey Stock and Susan Birkenhead's Triumph of Love, Maury Yeston's Titanic, Kander & Ebb's Steel Pier, Carl Beitell Smith's Side Show, and more! Friday, June 24 at 8PM - Dee Dee Bridgewater TO BILLIE WITH LOVE A CELEBRATION OF "LADY DAY"

 Tony® and two time Grammy® winning artist, producer, U.N. Ambassador and host of NPR's JazzSet Dee Dee Bridgewater celebrates "Lady Day." Ms. Bridgewater revisits the songs of Billie Holiday, for which she received an Olivier Award. She has performed in cities all over the world including Paris and Tokyo. Tickets are $45 & 50.

Built in 1921 by a group of suffragettes, The Town Hall began as a lecture hall and public forum for debates. Over the decades, Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, Billie Holiday, Igor Stravinsky, Bob Dylan and MiLes Davis have graced the stage. Today the hall flourishes as a popular, affordable venue, boasting the hottest acts in rock, pop, folk, cabaret, world music, comedy and dance, including Billy Joel, Blondie, Elvis Costello, Natalie Merchant, Graham Nash, Liza Minnelli, Cyndi Lauper, Norah Jones, Andre Watts, Henry Rollins, Joe Jackson, Pink Martini, Regina Spector, Brian Adams, Aimee Mann and Dawn Upshaw.
