About Harlem Pride
In 2010, Harlem Pride's founders saw an opportunity to celebrate not just our Same Gender Loving/LGBT community, but its role and contributions to Harlem's rich history and thus Harlem Pride was born. The mission is to unite Harlem's SGL/LGBT organizations and supporters in cultivating a sense of honor, dignity and respect for our diverse culture and community by fostering tolerance of our differences and ensuring equality for all. We promote SGL & LGBT pride in Harlem and provide opportunities for collaboration and communication among its SGL/LGBT organizations and community members through education and advocacy. These opportunities are organized for and on behalf of all SGL/LGBT individuals and groups, and all others who support the struggle for the liberation of these communities.
The Gatekeeper's Collective (TGC) is an African-Centered same gender loving (SGL) men's revitalization network, which employs education and advocacy to build resilience and leadership. TGC brings SGL, gay, bi and Trans African descended men together in collaboration around issues of the SGL and the larger Diasporan communities. TGC's mission is to enhance self-actualization and explore strategies and activities for the advancement of SGL people throughout the global African village.
