North Coast Presents ANYBODY An Improvised Historical Hip-Hopera Image

Now in the wake of Lin Manuel's smash Broadway hit Hamilton, North Coast is here to help quench the people's thirst for historical raps at ANYBODY. Join North Coast for this very special historical performance as the team takes your favorite historical figure and performs a fully improvised "hip-hopera" around that figure's life. Nikola Tesla? Bawse. Frederick Douglass? Flawless. Louisa May Alcott? Mic drop. Stand on the right side of history and drop by Caveat during North Coast's residency at Caveat, Thursdays in March!

Music director Jody Shelton began his career as musical director for the Second City National Touring Company, and performed with renowned musical improv ensemble Baby Wants Candy for fifteen years. In 2012, he co-wrote the hit parody 50 Shades! The Musical, which had an extended run at the Elektra Theatre in New York, and has been performed throughout North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. 50 Shades! can currently be seen at Bally's in Las Vegas. Shelton's latest musical, co-written with Emmy and Peabody winner Peter Gwinn (The Colbert Report) is The Story of a Story (The Untold Story), which opened at the Chopin Theatre in Chicago in October, 2015. Jody has also released three critically acclaimed albums as solo artist, and two more with his band, Daughter & Son. Jody's next projects include a documentary series for television chronicling the writing of a new musical through improv, and a new musical parody called Star Wars: The Farce Awakens.

Caveat is New York's newest speakeasy stage for playful, intelligent nightlife. The core creative team includes a recovering theoretical physicist, a renegade museum tour guide, and a one-time Moth StorySlam champion. That love for science and unconventional storytelling is at the heart of Caveat's booking philosophy: Caveat regularly hosts comedy, science talks, storytelling, concerts, trivia competitions, live recorded podcasts, and special events that defy description ... you'll have to come experience them for yourself! The decor is Harvard Club meets CBGB - the wood paneled walls and shelves hold images, artifacts and books from all corners of the academic world. Caveat seats about 120, with cabaret style tables, armchairs and bar stools. The venue was created with podcasting and filming in mind with a state-of-the art light and sound system. The bar serves ten craft beers on tap, ten wines by the glass and by the bottle, a selection of ciders and digestifs, and some truly tasty specialty sodas. Caveat is finalizing a menu but are currently serving imaginative grilled cheeses, charcuterie plates, spiced nuts, chocolate and popcorn. Check out the menu for all the details.
