On Monday, March 12, at 7 p.m. the Young People's Chorus of New York City take the stage at the Rose Theater of Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, for its 2012 fund-raising gala "The Journey of Life Begins With Music."

Under YPC Artistic Director and Founder Francisco J. Núñez, this year's Broadway showcase will also feature Nikki Renée Daniels and Joshua Henry from PORGY AND BESS, the popular Whiffenpoofs of Yale, young pianist Jingyi Zhang, and The New York Pops in a musical journey of sights and sounds from Europe and Asia, into Latin America and across the continental United States.  The evening's proceeds will benefit the Young People's Chorus of New York City.

Following the concert, the gala evening - co-chaired by Nancy Bloom, Adam Chinn, Shauna Denkensohn, Suzan Kremer, and Hiroko Onoyama - continues with an exclusive dinner in the adjoining Allen Room, where YPC will honor two extraordinary individuals.

Bobbie Adler Katzander, a patron of the arts, will be presented with YPC's Humanitarian Award for her longtime support of the Young People's Chorus of New York City as well as many other musical organizations and deserving young artists.  YPC will then present Michael C. Slocum, president of commercial banking at Capital One Bank, with its Corporate Award.  Capital One, YPC's largest corporate donor, is the first corporate sponsor of YPC's Satellite Program, this year reaching more than 900 children in nine New York City public schools in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.

Concert tickets, from $60 to $300, are available now at the ground floor Jazz at Lincoln Center Box Office, Broadway at 60th Street; by calling CenterCharge at 212-721-6500; or online at www.jalc.org

At 5:30 p.m. prior to the concert, a silent auction of many one-of-a-kind items will be held in the Rose Theater lobby.
