Nicu's Spoon is pleased to announce two recently-achieved successes-a leadership award nomination and a new home.

After being displaced in 2004 from their temporary location, Artistic Director, Stephanie Barton-Farcas was on a mission-to find Nicu's Spoon a permanent home.  Farcas' requirements were a bit different then the average theatre company, as Nicu's Spoon works with disabled actors, it requires the location to be handicapped accessible, have high ceilings, and room to move around in wheel chairs.  The new location at 38 West 38th Street meets all their needs and more.  The first production to premiere at their new home will be Richard III opening on July 11, 2007.

Farcas is no stranger to taking the reigns in Leadership Roles. The Leadership IS Award was established in 1999 to recognize outstanding organizations for their leadership in investing in the people of the charitable community, through an emphasis on the development of internal staff, board, and volunteer leadership. The award will be presented at the Independent Sector Annual Conference in Los Angeles, California, on October 21-23, 2007. Nicu's Spoon is honored to be a nominee for the 2007 award.

Stephanie Barton-Farcas feels "More and more our society is diversifying - something I predicted years ago - look at the past Oscars - the most diverse field ever. Our company continues to lead the way in knocking boundaries down and just showing talent. There are no boundaries in the future of American Theatre - colors, ages, sexes, abilities and ethnicities all meshed together - that is the new reality we are leading the way toward. - Come and join us!"

Founded in early 2001, Nicu's Spoon is dedicated to producing socially reflective theatre that presents new ideas, challenges stereotypes, and touches the heart in an unexpected way.  The company celebrates collaboration in developing productions that are pertinent for today's global, diverse and rapidly changing world.

Nicu's Spoon's Tales of the Lost Formicans runs March 28th through April 15th at Theater 54 at Shetler Studios (244 W. 54th St., 12th floor).  Visit www.nyte.org/pcast/nythpod102.mp3 to tune in and hear more about the show.
