Nick Blaemire, known for writing the Broadway musical (Glory Days) while also performing in another Broadway musical (Cry-Baby), leads an invitation-only industry reading of TIMEPIECE-a new play by Ben Bartolone. Directed by Markus Potter (Stalking the Bogeyman), the reading will take place on Thursday, April 9 at the Manhattan Theater Club. Jason A. Quinn will stage manage the event.
TIMEPIECE follows John Kirby who is on the run from his past. Between New York City and a small town in the suburbs, he has been working hard to forget an unloving father, an absent mother, and a life of underachievement. All is going according to plan when a sudden crisis forces him to address the past and work towards the future. Inspired by classic American drama, TIMEPIECE follows the course of one family struggling with the ultimate question-- does tragedy drive us together, or does it tear us apart?
Blaemire, playing the role of John Kirby, was most recently seen leading the cast of the Broadway production of Godspell. He made his Broadway debut with the musical Cry-Baby. He also appeared in the national tour of the hit musical Altar Boyz. His regional theatre credits include The Last Goodbye at Williamstown Theatre Festival, Lil's 90th at Long Wharf Theatre and James Lapine's Mrs. Miller Does Her Thing at the Vineyard Playhouse. His film and television credits include Gods Behaving Badly, The Assassination of a High School President, Damsels in Distress, The Big C, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Guiding Light.
The reading also includes Amy Van Nostrand (Bway: The Hothouse) and Raviv Ullman (TV: Phil Of The Future and Rita Rocks). Rounding out the cast are Dan Daily, John DeSilvestri, Kristina Klebe.
Playwright Ben Bartolone, his co-producer John DeSilvestri, and producers Tim Whitfield, Craig & Ann Major and TIMEPIECE LLC used crowdsourcing to fundraise for the reading. The financial goal was met and exceeded in 72 hours.
