Nicholas Lloyd Webber, son of Andrew Lloyd Webber, will see his musical adaptation of THE LITTLE PRINCE run from December 1 through January 15 at the Lyric Belfast. Directed by Richard Croxford, the production is co-written by James D. Reid. On the upcoming opening, Lloyd Webber commented that he is: "Very nervous. In terms of the pressure, I'm very aware there's going to be some... attention, but I'd just like to think that the show will be judged on its own merits. That's all anyone can ask for."
On whether Dad, Andrew, has been invovled in the project, he added, "He's too busy for one thing. We did send him Act 1 when we finished it. I said to him, 'Be honest – don't be Dad, be composer.' And he gave us some notes – some of which we agreed with, some of which we didn't."

Lloyd Webber's new work features a continuation of the partnership with Austrailian director and composer, Mick Gordon. The two recently collaborated on their production of THE TEMPEST for the Oxford Shakespeare Company, which played June 9-18, 2010. THE TEMPEST is part of the celebration for the Company's 400th anniversary, in addition to the 400th anniversary of Wadham College where the Oxford Shakespeare Company was born. THE LITTLE PRINCE follow yet another one of Lloyd Webber and Gordon's productions: their new play, BEA, ran at the Soho Theatre in London December 1, 2010 thru January 8, 2011.
Written by Antoine De Saint-Exupery, THE LITTLE PRINCE tells the story of a pilot's unexpected crash landing in the Sahara Desert. While in the desert, the pilot meets the Little Prince --- a young boy from another planet. The Prince shares his unique adventures that he experienced while traveling throughout the solar system. The book has been adapted into 180 different languages, various musical interpretations (including a children's version), and a film.
